A mural has appeared on Splott Rd inviting residents to ‘take a seat’ and it’s down to local charity, Splott Community Volunteers.

Writing on their website, the charity says:
There’s a vibrant new addition to Splott Road—a beautiful mural has just gone up opposite The Imperial Café! Designed to brighten up an otherwise dull spot, the mural features the words “Take a Seat” in 17 different languages, celebrating diversity and community in a truly eye-catching way (thank you to Oasis Cardiff for assisting with translation). Even more exciting, the space will soon include seating and plants, creating a welcoming place for everyone to pause and connect.
The artwork was painted by the talented muralist Katherine Holmes—check out her work at www.katherineholmesart.com – and installed over the course of three days by Katherine and several wonderful volunteers.
This colourful transformation was made possible with support from the Cardiff Third Sector Council through the SHARED PROSPERITY Small Grant Fund 2023/24, in partnership with Cardiff Council. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, be sure to stop by, take in the artwork, and soon, take a seat!
The mural has been installed on the old STAR Leisure Centre, on the wall next to Ladbrooks, and the scene is a welcome addition to a part of Splott that’s a bit of a concrete jungle.
Let’s hope it’s the start of more street art in Splott!
