New Splott Rd charity shop opening soon!

Exciting news today as Splott Community Volunteers advertise the opening of their new charity shop at 23 Splott Rd!

That’s right – the old GP surgery on our local high street will open as a boutique charity shop on Wednesday 11th February.

Stocking high quality items at low cost, the shop will predominantly sell women’s, men’s and children’s clothes along with a selection of homewares, bedding, books and brick-a-brack.

Children’s toys will not be sold at the shop but can be found across the road in Splott Community Volunteers’ facility at the back of the old STAR Leisure Centre (entry through the gates on Railway Street).

Here’s the low-down on the launch:

“On the 11th of February 2026, the doors will open on Splott’s newest charity shop at 23 Splott Road.  Formerly the GP’s surgery, the opening of the shop marks an exciting new chapter for community-based charity, Splott Community Volunteers, which has supported local people experiencing food, fuel and social poverty since 2015.

Initially opening on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am – 4pm, the shop will sell high quality low cost donated clothing, shoes, bedding and homeware, with all proceeds directly supporting SCV’s work in the local community. The shop will also provide additional opportunities for volunteering, work experience and apprenticeships in the future.

Lynne Thomas, CEO of Splott Community Volunteers, said:

“We are incredibly proud to be opening Splott’s newest charity shop. This shop has been shaped by our community and will play a vital role in helping us sustain and grow our services for local people. We’re delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor to officially open the shop and celebrate this milestone with us.”

The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Adrian Robson, said:

“Community-led projects like this charity shop are essential to building strong, supportive neighbourhoods. It’s a real achievement for Splott Community Volunteers and I’m very pleased to open a shop that will benefit the community both socially and economically.”

As the shop launches, the charity would like to thank R&M Williams and the GoodShed for their kind volunteering and practical help in getting the shop ready – from signage and racks, to painting and decorating.  Their assistance has been invaluable in preparing the shop for launch.

The charity is actively seeking new volunteers, particularly people with charity retail experience, to help run the shop and support its development.  Anyone interested in volunteering should call 07707818093 or email info@splottcommunityvolunteers.co.uk.

We hope that you can make it and look forward to welcoming you to the launch of Splott’s newest charity shop (the shop will be open from 12noon until 6pm on the 11th so that people can pop along after work and share in the celebrations).”

How fantastic that one of the commercial units on our local high street is being brought back into use! Can’t wait to explore the treasures on offer.

*It’s likely to be MEGA busy from 12-1pm on the 11th Feb but the shop will be open until 6pm that night for people to have a browse.
