What would make Splott even better?

This summer, residents of Splott and Adamsdown are being asked their opinions in a series of consultations online and in person.

As part of Cardiff Council’s 2025-2030 regeneration strategy, Splott and Adamsdown have been identified as areas of need and opportunity for improvement and the Council is developing a Placemaking Plan to create thriving, sustainable districts and local centres that celebrate the unique character of each community.

Cardiff Council has said that the placemaking plan will be developed with the community to help identify opportunities for the future, local priorities and key issues or problems.

There are a few different ways in which you can take part and ensure that your ideas and concerns are noted and considered:

Online engagement.

This questionnaire is the first stage of the process. It asks about:

  • everyday experiences of local centres, streets and public spaces
  • movement and travel around the area
  • access to green spaces and play
  • community life
  • longer‑term opportunities for the neighbourhood

The closing date for the survey is the 16th of August and everyone who enters and provides an email address will be entered into a draw for a chance to win £50 worth of shopping vouchers.

Offline engagement

Over the summer, Cardiff Council will also speak with community groups and local organisations; speak to people at local community events and clubs and hold four in‑person engagement sessions. Here’s where you can pop along, ask questions and have your say:

  • Thursday 28th July from 6-8pm at Splott Community Volunteers (back of the old STAR Centre – entry through the gates on Railway Street, opposite A1 Tyres). Refreshments will be provided.
  • 5th August from 3pm – 6pm at 28 Clifton Street.
  • 5th August from 6pm to 8pm at Mercy on Clifton Street.

Next steps.

Following this stage, a range of options will be developed, tat may include:

  • shorter‑term changes (think quick wins and small-scale projects)
  • longer‑term projects involving different partners (think bigger infrastructure projects and projects that may require planning permission and significant funding)

Throughout the process, Cardiff Council has committed to continue working with the community to shape and refine options, as they say that co‑developing the Placemaking Plan will help to coordinate planned changes across the area and support future access to relevant funding programmes (looking forward to finding out more!).
