Luvly Job! Splott Cafe launches funding drive to feed the NHS and elderly

LUVLY GRUB is a small cafe on the border of Splott & Tremorfa in Cardiff whose owners, Julie and Paul, have always supported the community.

But now they have a massive challenge on their hands and now would like your help to provide free meals to NHS workers and elderly people living in Splott and Tremorfa.

But you don’t need to hear it from me: you can hear it from them:

“Due to these unrepresented times our NHS staff are working tirelessly putting their lives on the line to save ours.

We want to show our appreciation & are asking for support from as many people as possible to help us raise as much money as we can to provide free meals & drinks for our NHS staff.

We have estimated that we can provide a healthy meal & drink for £4.00 per person, our aim to start off with 100 meals & will increase as the donations increase. If you can help with a donation, you can make one here: http://gf.me/u/xugsz8

Due to the Lockdown the elderly will suffer more than we can imagine, not just by being unable to go shopping for food etc but in a social and safety aspect, we are providing free meals for the elderly who live in Splott & Tremorfa.

Since Sunday 29th March we have delivered 108 meals, as said the meals are free however if you would like to donate please visit http://luvlygrub.com

If you know of any elderly people that we can help please let us know, but only message us directly with their names & address for protection.

Thank you all very much for taking the time to read this, we are very grateful & wish you well. #LuvlyGrubForOurNHS

Julie & Paul x “

What a wonderful initiative. A MASSIVE thank you to Julie and Paul and to all the volunteers who helped them deliver free meals to the elderly and vulnerable last week.

I tell you what, and I’m getting a bit teary writing this, I’m so pleased and proud to live where I do; here, in Splott, where people look after each other. I would like to thank each and every one of you who is looking after your neighbour, volunteering to help out someone you don’t know and have never met, painting rainbows, being positive and continuing to prove that Splott is bloody tidy!
